Dr Lahiru Kodithuwakku
Dr. Kodituwakku, a medical doctor specializing in community resilience and disaster risk reduction, is the Disaster Management Focal Point Medical Officer at the National Dengue Control Unit, Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka. He has an extensive academic background in public health and disaster management and has been instrumental in managing recent disasters, including the COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka. His notable roles include working at the National Operations Center for Prevention of COVID-19 and as an Epidemiological Officer for the Wolbachia Project with Monash University. Dr. Kodituwakku has led significant training programs on community resilience, notably training leaders across Sri Lanka's 26 districts on COVID-19 mitigation in collaboration with UNICEF and the Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement. His research focuses on infectious disease epidemiology and disaster risk reduction, with specialized training from ADPC and ICRC/University of Hawaii. He is a life member of the College of Community Physicians of Sri Lanka and Vice President of the Sri Lanka Association of Disaster Medicine.
